Surge and Lightning Protection

A surge is a transient electrical fluctuation that happens in a fraction of a second and can cause serious damage to electronic and electro mechanical equipment.

They can be caused by lightning strikes and local power utility company "spikes" which can enter your business or home through the electrical system ie. cable television, telephone wiring etc and attack any electrical equipment attached to them.

Hardwired Surge Filter

Since surge filters are connected in series, they must be suitably rated to carry the amount of electrical current that your equipment is using.

NPS provide a range of surge filters with load ratings from as low as 3 amp (typically used to protect a computer or a PLC) all the way up to 2000 amp (typically used to protect an entire installation. The cost and size of surge filters changes depending upon the load current rating.

CSFi Series Surge Filter



CSFi Series - 3–25A, 25kA primary. Designed for mounting in distribution boards to provide secondary protection against power surges.

These are caused by external sources such as lightning strikes and substation switching as well as providing a measure of protection from surge events generated on the secondary side of the filter.

An ideal device for Category B locations.

Powerware DSFi Surge Filter



DSFi high-rated power surge filter - 5–32A, 50kA primary.

Designed to provide point-of-entry protection against power surges caused by external sources such as lightning strikes and substation switching.

They provide a measure of protection from surge events generated on the secondary side of the filter.

Supplied with a Five year warranty.

LPI SST Surge Filter

LPI DIN Line Surge Filter



The LPI® DIN Line Surge Filter is a multi-mode (Ph-N, N-E) surge protection device housed in a DIN enclosure and rated for 8A, 16A and 20A.

The DLSF range is designed to clip onto a standard 35mm DIN rail.

Due to the low let through voltage it is an ideal power protection device for sensitive electronic equipment.
